let's be honest, the after parties are always less stuffy than the red carpet. the bottles are popped, the winners were revealed and everyone that is hot in hollywood is there. oh to be a fly on the walls of these parties. i love seeing odd pairs come so stylishly together. for example, ashley olsen mingling with catherine zeta-jones or miley cyrus & kelly osbourne smooching on elton john. plus the fashion is typically more fun and stylish... i just wish anne hathaway got the memo to not follow up a bad dress with an even worse one. but then again, she did win.
top 7 oscar after-party looks:
1: smokin' hot saldana killed it.

2. miranda kerr - she never disappoints.

3: natalie portman - scoring major points on the emerald earrings.

4: amy adams - shimmer + fringe = true love

5: miss miley is adding the rock n' roll.

6: lily collins - the mirror, mirror star. i don't need to see the front since it's all party in the back. and a nice break from all the black & white.

7: last and certainly not least: dear diane, not many people will understand but i do. and i love you.

party on people,

the grammy's were already getting interesting when biebs was snubbed, rihanna was going to be on the arm of chris brown again (why-o-why?!) and then there was the wardrobe memo of 'no side boob or puffy skin'... huh? it's the GRAMMY's and it's the one place you expect to see side boob, lots of risky cleveage showing & unusual dresses. thankfully a few of my favorites rebeled and ignored the memo because it would have been a boring red carpet had they decided to pay attention to it. at least it made for a good story.
top 10 pretties:
Ri-Ri needs to have the first and second spots for these 2 gowns... she never disappoints with her fashion.
i would love her even more if she 86'd chris brown but she apparently didn't get that memo either.
kelly rowland popped onto the stage last week during the superbowl looking amazing but even more so on the red carpet!
cut-it-out, k!

i swear, kelly osbourne is looking more and more gorgeous with each week/event show. i loved her in this black paule ka gown.

florence welch, adele, katy perry & solange are the women that will never be considered boring. amen.

pulling up the rear and keeping it lady like are the usual suspects: taylor swift & nicole kidman.

this last one is to put a smile on your face...
too funny and how hot is portia?!

i hope you had fun watching the show and soaking in all the fashion!

my obsession started a few months ago when i saw this exact sorel ad featuring leila janah, founder & CEO of samasourse. i have 3 months worth of lucky mags and ALL of them have a dogeared page which is this exact ad because i'm crazy in love with it all. not only does she look pretty fierce, smart & stylish... but those boots!! i HAD to have them... and now i do. but in the twill (black/grey) color. for the past 2 weeks, i have been putting together my outfits around these boots and they seem to work with just about everything... obsessed.

(leila janah, founder & CEO of samasourse)
here are my top 5 sorel styles that are worth checking out... and wearing out!
1: conquest carly boots in twill (um... these are the ones i have. xx)

2: conquest carly boot in trail... just as yummy. (as seen in the sorel ad)
3: the slimpack riding boot. these are more fashion forward and simply amazing for any pretty. (for my girl, g.l.)

4: conquest carly short in both trail and twill. i'm digging the trail color more for the short boot.

5: sorel's joan of arctic boots in taffy... for that pop of color topped with fur.

stay cozy and completely adorable.

i'm not too sure how any pretty could make it through the fall (or winter) without at least one staple/go-to/must have/hide the bad hair day/chicer than chic hat. come on, at least one! and don't give me the excuse of, "i don't look good in hats." because i'm not buying it, ladies!
i have a dreamy black corduroy newspaper boy style cap that always has me feeling stylishly confident. i can throw it on with just about any fall outfit when i'm feeling the need to give my style a boost. or else i'm wearing because i did a horrible job with my hair and in that case, the cap completely solves my problems.
here are my top 10 mad hatters for the fall (& winter) season:

i have recently gone thru a few life changes which has left me watching less & less tv these days (probably a good thing). so i really wasn't as interested about the emmy winners but i sure as heck wasn't going to miss the live red carpet, hounding my favorite sites for picture updates and gossiping with my mother about who we thought looked amazing and who didn't make the cut... it's just what we do. i'm not embarrased to admit i sit at the edge of my seat and get super excited when they show the first shots of the fancy black cars pulling up to the red carpet and announce who's going to be stepping out of them. the big reveal is followed by either my true fashion appreciation or else disappointment that leaves me thinking, 'better luck next time.'
i kept it positive and went with my top 10 looks, rather than top 5 faves and the top 5 'better luck next time' looks since it can be painful looking at the pictures again. just keepin' it pretty for you!
here we go....

my #1 pretty of the night: ginnifer goodwin in monique lhuillier... sweet baby jesus, i love it!

this modern family mother/daughter trio is looking pretty amazing... and age appropriate.

dear january, i love you. but i miss your blonde hair.

revenge looks good on her.

love the sweetness of this dress... sadly, not loving the shoe choice but can't win them all.

bring on the metal! (the construction of lucy's versace gown is incredible at the top)

any quick movements in this dress had me anticipating a wardobe malfunction but the colors of the look immediately grabbed my attention. meow.
until next time, pretty girls...

check out the blushing bride-to-be, jessica biel! she was caught strolling thru london while promoting her new movie, total recall, and i must say that this pretty girl is beaming and totally gorgeous! i may not agree with her bag of choice but minus the bag... i love the look!

work it, pretty!

i have a girl crush. i actually always have some sort of girl crush on a few different ladies but right now it's defintiely, charlize theron. she has a few movies coming out right about now and has been seen jetsetting from country to country with her little baby in tow... all while looking quite marvelous. her premiere red carpet moments are typically stunning but i love her day looks just as much. here are the top 5 looks that i'm completely crushing on...

i love anything sheer right now and this is one hot ticket of a dress. ooo-la-la!

those shoes!!! this is just how she strolls. i wish i looked this amazing while out running errands.

this pretty, pretty peplum bestills my heart. i love the color combo with her blonde locks, simple accessories and nude nails.

post blonde locks and hiding a shaved head. i love the fedora and stripes... and the pom pom on the kid's hat too.

the longsleeves work so well with her thin frame. again, love the shoe pairing with the red for a classic, sophisticated & stunning style.
there it is, people. my top 5 looks for my crush-of-the-moment. i'm very certain there will be more crushin' posts but writing about ryan gosling seemed a little too obvious. but i'm sure i'll write about him sooner than later.

sometimes it's hard to believe there could be something better than a few hours of the red carpet for the oscars. getting a few fashion loving girlfriends together in one room is already a good time... but add the red carpet and there will be lots of judging going on & it's fantastic. there's nothing like each of us ooo'ing and ahh'ing (in unison is best) with a mix of, "her stylist should be fired" to get the party started. but i think my favorite part is how my mom always calls me on the phone to give me her best and worst dressed list.... it's just our 'thing'.
the red carpet mavens that i believe rocked it include michelle williams (my #1 for sure), gwyneth, rooney mara and a few more that i think looked gorgeous.

yeah yeah yeah... kristen wiig looked washed out to most but i loved it. and as much as i would love to give emma stone more credit for the amazing red giambattista valli dress, the fit just wasn't there for me.
since we're already on a roll with judging, i'll add my worst dressed list too:

i'll leave it at these three. i was a little sad about jennifer lopez. she would have been one of my favorites if she didn't have the cut out sleeves with the nude iceskater-y fabric on the arms. bummer.
hope you all enjoyed the big night!

okay, okay... i'm a few days behind on writing about my favorite grammy looks (or anything for that matter) but it's just too hot to not share. you really never know what you are going to get on the red carpet at the grammy's. it's not like the oscars where it's all about fashion and can often seem a little stuffy ... but i love that stuff, so who am i kidding. the grammy's give a great variety and i love the healthy looking women, daring rock-n-roll styles, unexpected duos and the outrageous costumes that a few dare to wear (gaga, i love you).
back to the fashion... i keep seeing photos of rhianna pop up EVERYWHERE because she looked stunning. quite honestly, i didn't expect her to be so sleek and gorgeous. she was definitely my best dressed pick of the night and was all the rage on the carpet. now only if we can get her to stay away from chris brown!
\

and for my remaining best dressed picks....

nicely done, ladies!
